It took me a while to see what is wrong with this photo. There is something in it that I cannot put my finger on. The focus is wonderful, including some subtle bokeh and a wondrous light.
I think there is something in the composition though that bothers me. You see, generally people glance at a photo in a particular direction, their eyes guided by the position of the elements in the image. This depends to do with whatever reading direction one is familiar with. Some will look from left to right and others from right to left. This makes 'scattering' items across the image exiting and will usually create a dynamic photo. Or you can choose for a peaceful, restful photo and divide the frame into parts. Here, however, there seems to be a bit of a combination of both. The photo is divided into three layers, top to bottom. The top contains the bokeh, the middle the flowers and the lower part has the blurred stems. So far so good. But the flowers bother me. They seem ever so slightly scattered over their 'layer', making me wish they were composed slightly differently, so I can decide how I have to look at them, either dynamically or resting within the rule of thirds. The tough thing about this is that it's really a gut-feeling and others may experience it differently. Personally though, I would have searched for a slightly different angle or composition, something more definite.
